Vista发布之后,关于它的说法也越来越多,最有意思的是有人拿Vista与Me进行比较.Vista与Me有何关联呢?估计许多年轻朋友应该都没有见过Windows Me,尽管他们知道Win98.
那么,我们先看看Windows Me是何许人也:

在Windows 98第二版推出之后,微软又开始了其第三版的开发工作. 后来这个系统被正式更名为了Windows Millennium Edition (千禧版) ,简称Windows Me,发行日期是2000年9月14日. Windows Me的定位是家庭娱乐,相对于Windows 98来说更新并不大,主要升级了一些常用软件,如Internet Explorer 5.5和Windows Media Player 7.0.同时,Windows Me还新加入了一系列的小游戏,用来制作家庭电影的Movie Maker和并不成熟的 “系统还原” 技术.

Windows Me是最后一个16位/32位混合模式的Windows 9X系列产品,我们从它的版本号4.9也可以看到微软的这一意图.正因如此,微软对这个操作系统的推广似乎也不太卖力. 同时由于相对于Windows 98的更新并不多,Windows Me并未获得用户们的普遍认同.很多人认为这几乎是微软在Windows 3.0以后,最失败的一次系统发布.然而,Windows Me并非一无是处,它的开关机速度至今仍是所有32位Windows中最快的.而那些被大众批评为不成熟的新功能后来又以全新的面貌和更稳定的性能出现在了以NT内核为基础的个人操作系统上,微软对自己的Windows产品线再一次做出了重大的调整.
Windows Vista会重蹈Windows Me的覆辙吗?

从以上数据可以看出,Me相对Win98而言只是一个更新版本,除了以上提到的更新外,Me的界面、用户使用体验和娱乐功能的确较之前任Win98要好多了.本来Win Me就是不是一个让微软和消费者看重的产品,更不要提让Me成为Win98的继任者了.根据记忆,当时我对于Win Me还是颇为向往的,比起Win98来Me并不差,之所以不被用户接受,不是Me的错,而是微软没有认真推广的错,当然,Me相较Win98也没有能够引人注目的改变,也是其被Win98锋芒掩盖的牺牲品.

根据我的理解,Win Me只是微软为迎接千禧年的一个Win98改装版,其地位岂是能够与微软耗时5年、曾一度推倒重新来过、并大力推广让其接替WinXP的Vista所能比拟的?所以,Me根本无法与Vista相提并论,只有Win95或者WinXP可以与之比较,更谈不上什么重蹈Me的覆辙、成为Me 2了!

那么,Vista为什么不被包括OEM厂商做内的市场认可?我们知道,Dell曾宣布产品线将全面预装Vista,但是很快部分产品又倒退回XP.原因无外乎Vista并不被消费市场看好,多数消费者对其提不起兴趣.我认为原因有以下几个方面:

1、Vista的开发周期太长.

也就是说XP已经在此期间占据了大部分Windows PC,用户对XP已经相当熟悉,使用习惯已经形成.Vista全新的界面和操作与XP差异太大,而且Vista内核更新跨度太大,与XP时代程序的兼容性问题甚至是致命的.在测试期间,Vista的兼容性问题相当严重,许多程序都无法正常运行.

2、UAC给用户带来不适.

本来微软就因为安全问题被人诟病已久,所以在Vista中,微软花费了大力气改进了Windows的安全性.UAC因此而生,但是却引来了用户的诸多不满,用户认为UAC相当烦人.用户才不管UAC究竟有多大的好处,他/她们需要的就是安全、操作便捷、功能强大的操作系统,至于如何实现是微软的事情,而由此给用户附加额外的操作用户自然不会接受.

3、版本太多,价格太贵.

Vista的版本总共分为:Starter(功能严重缩水版,只在部分发展中国家发布)、家庭版、企业版和旗舰版,而家庭版又分为基本版和高级版,而且还可以按照带不带Aero划分.旗舰版就是终极版,也就是Vista能够有的功能它都有,包括家庭版和企业版所包含的功能.不知道这么说你看明白了没,如果越看越糊涂就对了,多数用户就是这么想的.微软如此细分就是为了通过细分产品而满足不同消费类型的消费者,从而降低用户投入成本,但是也容易让用户不知所从.

另外,Vista过高的价格也是阻碍用户接受大主要原因,尤其是发展中国家.要知道,美国的人均收入是我们的十几倍,他/她们尚且嫌贵,那么我们呢?

4、媒体误导,用户误解

由于众多Windows用户对于Longhorn/Vista的关注热情高涨,加之测试期又长达5年,使得通过媒体和论坛”了解”Vista的消费者数量众多.其中许多描述都是针对一些测试版本的,普通大众由此获取的信息其实已经过期,新版/正式版或许已经得到解决或改善,而大众对此却不知情,原来固有的观点就会继续传播.

而且,目前的互联网的现状是信息量超大,但是真伪很难识别,一些部分用户的个人间接经过几次转载就会发生巨大变化,从而可能令大众产生误解.比如,认为Vista不支持某某输入法、不能上网、中文显示不正常、一般显卡不能安装Vista、许多软件都不能运行……

的确,Vista还有许多问题,软件更新目前还跟不上,但是Windows的影响力是不容置疑的,相信很快软件兼容性不再是个问题,相关应用也会跟上.

Vista的发布似乎还是有些仓促,但是,Windows向来就是Bug满身,补丁加补丁的,不足为奇.而且SP1或许在下半年发布,届时Vista的稳定性和性能将会更进一步,据说还会在内核上进行更新,相信应该是个大的进步.SP1之后,企业用户应该也会跟进,Vista会真正迎来拓展市场的高潮.

Semsons have just put up their new branded iTrek GPS receivers, after the Globalsat SiRFstarII mouse GPS and the Holux GM-270 CF GPS in 2003 and the Nemerix based iTrek Bluetooth GPS in 2004, they now have the i.Trek M3 Bluetooth GPS that appears to be a customized version of the very successful Globalsat BT-338 SiRFstarIII based GPS and the i.Trek S3 USB and i.Trek S3 Serial “mouse” receivers. Excellent pricing too at $122 (including the 10% discount for GpsPasSion Club members) for the M3 and $90 for the S3. I’m going to ask about the FW version used on these receivers, it will likely be the latest 3.1.1 - UPDATED Just heard from Semsons that FW is currently 3.0.2, version 3.1.1 will be coming in a few weeks.

　　戴尔在其官方博客Direct2Dell中重申，鉴于小型商业用户实力有限，无法像大型企业那样从容批量采购新PC，戴尔不会强迫他们转向Vista，而是继续在特定型号的Dimension和Inspiron系统上提供Windows XP，不过很可惜，这也不会持续太久，预计只到今年夏天。

　　至于个人消费者，戴尔没有提及，但很显然，如果你需要Windows XP PC，最好在2008年到来之前动手。
