I have City Navigator Europe v9 and want to use it for my Garmin StreetPilot C330. I used a unlock code and the map was unlocked in my PC. But still can not transfer it to the GPS. “Can’t unlock the Map”. I also tried to transfer it via Card Reader, but it made no difference. (could transfer it to SD card, but the GPS showed the same message).
How and where should I use the Map ID? I already saw it in this blog, it should be 197. Could you pls help me? Thanks a lot!

I got a 25-character unlock code so the EU Map was unlocked in my PC. But I could not (also did not want to) register it on the website.
I can use the map in PC. But could not transfer the selected map to the GPS device. Someone said the unlock code is device specific.
BTW, what I have is a DVD version. Maybe your EU Map is only a IMG file?

@JJJ OK, I think what you can try is got Keygen and use it to make a img file. after that you could use your map. maybe later i will tell you how to do it.

I tried your unlocked Germany Map and the GPS device could read it. So I think the img file of EU Map V9 I generated is still locked, although the map is unlocked in my PC.

I only have an unlock number, where can I have a Keygen? It would be great if you can let me know how to do it. thanks.

Also I downloaded the EU V9 Map you provided (you called it Europa Map)

It is a img file and my GPS device still told me “can’t unlock map”. (Germany Map is also a img file, but as you said it is unlocked, so the device could read it)

For me there is no place to use Map ID and was not asked to do that.

1. In Nuvi go to -> Settings -> System -> About -> Unit ID
2. Enter the ID in Kg (first input) to get Device Code.
3. Select “custom mapset” in Kg and enter 284 to get unlock code
4. Now just follow strictly “Solution.txt”

I have a StreetPilot C330. In “readme.txt” of KG it says it does not work for MapSource, but EU V9 is a MapSource.
Also, in that KG, I tried both 284 (as you mentioned) and directly “City ….NT V9″ and both did not work out.

anyway, thanks a lot. Is there a already unlocked img file for EU V9, like the unlocked Germany map? thanks.

Admin, could you please see the following steps
1. run the City Navigator Europe V9 (exe file)
2. then was asked to unlock the map and used the unlock-ID provided with the software (not the keygen)
3. no register, done.
4. run MapSource from PC
5. transfer selected Map (i.e., the whole EU map) to SD card. It is a img file
6. Enter the Unit ID in the keygen and get the device code
7. Select “custom mapset” in Kg and enter 284 to get unlock code
8. follow the “Readme.txt”.

Qustions:
Is the map ID for City Navigator Europe v9 not 197? In the Keygen you can select this directly w/o any numbers, is it right? What is the difference with 284?
Are there any mistakes in my steps? I know the keygen can work for XT Mobile, but does it work for normal GPS devices with MapSource too?

@jjj ye normally is 197 but still have another possible number. so the best way is try to find it be yourself. then i think it could used for normal GPS devices. but i did not try.

hi joe, admin, I think the MapSource for normal GPS should be unlocked in the same way as for XT Mobile: somehow we need a keygen to put in the GPS device code (device specific) and generate an unlock number. This number will be specific for the device we have. (the unlock number provided with the map is for PC only). After that, like the way we do for XT Mobile, there should be a patch for the img file.

The keygen is only for XT Mobile and not for MapSource. So far I have not found any right one. Let’s follow it and share what we find here. I will also try the steps for XT Mobile again, see what will happen.

I tried some maps provided by Leo (admin), like Germany, Italy, etc. The GPS device could read it and showed the map name on the display. I would believe that if we can convert all these img files into one img file, it should work.

Hi,

I have Garmin Etrex Vista Cx, I have got the unit id from mapsource, then unlocked the maps (City Navigator Europe 2008) and sent them to the GPS unit, I then checked the registry and got my map ID 284 and generated the code for the gmapp.unl and then added the file to the garmin folder on the SD card.

The unit runs but doesn’t show the maps? Any ideas?

I unlocked the maps before sending them to the unit and it worked like treat, no need to use a gmapsupp.unl file.

Well,

I have a problem with it, too ^^ I have a Garmin GPS V Deluxe. I downloaded the maps from you (thank you at all ), installed it and tried to copy it, but there is still this little message as nearly everyone seems to have: “Can’t unlock the Map”. I read the whole thread from all of you here, but I’m still not knowing what to do. I tried it whith GmapTool as you said. But it still doesn’t work.

Where can I get a keygen for my GPS V? What do I have to do for it ^^

I did not have choice to try v deluxe. but i could tell you what i did. could you find your garmin’s drive id? if you could get it, that will be great. you can use keygen to get a unlock code. just running keygen then type your id. you can got a numbers. then use mapsource. they will ask for unlock. type what you get. you could get a unlock maps. good luck~

I unlock and installed Adria Route 2.0 (gmasupp.unl and gmasupp.img) and SCG Route 1.6 (gmasup2.unl and gmasup2.unl) … Everything is ok, but when GPS connect to satelite, I cant find any city, I can find Serbia, but not even Belgrade
Can any1 help me ????

Hi!

I have SCG 1.5 together with other maps Europe2008 from Mapsource but it works.
This new map SCG 1.6, i have problems like Ivan, i tried this together with Adria 2.0 too, but it dont work, this map only work alone without other maps in Garmin folder on SD.
I hope i dont need this, becouse i dont have any space on my PDA and i dont use this today:?
“map#1 rename to “GMAPSUPP.IMG” and copy to your device(PPC) in \Garmin”

I dont use this on other maps or SCG 1.5 and it works, i try to rename SCG 1.6 to GMAPSUP2.IMG but it is problem again, i dont find any place in Serbia but i can see that the map exist in Garmin.

Very strange, this problem is only with SCG 1.6.
Ivan if you fix this problem, please write here and explain how you did it, thanks…

All the problems maybe solved with Gunlocker. i Did it w in my GPS 96C and it works (no 25 codes no map id nothing….)
