there is another way to get map id

GmapTool is a simple program that can deal with img files. It is GmapTool,
you can get it here: http://w15.easy-share.com/12120771.html

First copy your maps to PC and make a backup copy.
Gmaptool can show some details of this file:
>gmaptool -i gmapprom.img

On last lines you can find product and family id:
F: PID 1, FID 197, City Navigator Europe NT v9
FID 197 in hex is 00C5. You need to put this 2-bytes number into typ file, exactly at offset 2Fh-30h, low byte first, so it goes C5 00. Use some hex editor for that.
