Geneva ‘08 Preview: Subaru Legacy 2.0D & Outback 2.0D

legacy20dfront_lo.jpg
sorry, guys. because i need ready for mid-term or something else. so i just saw this news.
Next month in Geneva, Subaru will officially pull the wraps off the Legacy 2.0D and Outback 2.0D, which, of course, are the first vehicles to be powered by Subaru’s new 2.0L Boxer Diesel. Visually, the cars look just like their gasoline-engined counterparts, with the only giveaway being the D-shaped “Boxer Diesel” badge affixed to their rear ends. and it seems it is great. also if subaru could rudece his car’s price. i will think the day become wondonful.

Porsche GT3 Cup S

Porsche always is a dream for a man.
today we will see some news about Porsche GT3 Cup S, which can be used in FIA GT3 events.
also as i know, it cost of entry is steep — €250,000 plus VAT — but no one ever said racing was for the faint-of-heart (or wallet)
gt3cups_hi007lo.jpg

gt3cups_hi001.jpggt3cups_hi002.jpggt3cups_hi004.jpggt3cups_hi005.jpggt3cups_hi006.jpggt3cups_hi007.jpg

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, adds another member of
the 911 family to its range of products. The new GT3 Cup S, based on the
road-going GT3 RS sportscar, is created exclusively for racing purposes.
The Weissach-developed and built vehicle will race in international
champion-ships which run in accordance with FIA GT3 regulations.

To a large extent, the 3.6-litre boxer engine is identical to the power
unit used in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup and the international Carrera Cup
championships. Power output has increased by 20 horsepower to now 440 hp
(324 kW) at 8,000 rpm. Maximum torque is up by ten Nm to 430 at 7,250 revs
per minute. The power increase results from optimised engine electronics
and a modified exhaust system.

In contrast to the GT3 Cup, the body of the Cup S is not based on the
road-going GT3 but on the GT3 RS. In the wider wheel arches, considerably
larger wheels can now be mounted. At the front, the rims measure 10.5
inches in width with 12 inch wheels fitted at the rear. The front section
and flares are significantly different to the GT3 Cup components. An
adjustable front-splitter generates more downforce at the front axle. The
rear-wing is wider and positioned higher than the Cup version and provides
more downforce at the rear axle.

Several suspension components for the GT3 Cup S have been taken from the
more powerful GT3 RSR which races in the GT2 class at international
long-distance championships. The braking system of the GT3 Cup S was
adjusted to the increased power compared to the GT3 Cup. At the rear the
diameter of the brake discs has grown by five millimetres to now measure
355mm.

The new GT3 Cup S costs 250,000 Euro plus national VAT and is scheduled for
delivery to customer teams from April. Additionally, Porsche offers a kit
to upgrade the 2007 Cup models to the GT3 Cup S standard.

2008 AUDI A4 SPECIAL EDITION DEBUTS AT CHICAGO AUTO SHOW

08a4se_hi002lo.jpg
AUBURN HILLS, MI., February 6, 2008 – Audi of America Inc. today announced the debut of the 2008 A4 Special Edition at the Chicago Auto Show. The new configuration was created for customers wanting a thoroughly modern German luxury sport sedan with more exterior appeal and attractive packaging. This adds to the popular S line exterior bumpers and grille introduced as standard features on the A4 for the 2008 model year, which include a sportier front bumper and grille design, lower side door flares, and integrated rear trunk lid spoiler.

Designed for A4 sedan and Avant models equipped with the 2.0 TFSI engine, exterior differentiation for the Special Edition includes a new standard 17-inch wheel that features a 9 Y-spoke design pattern. Standard interior features for quattro-equipped models include leather-trimmed heated front seats and metallic paint. As a result, models equipped with FrontTrak attain a $405 improved value in new standard equipment, while those with quattro permanent all-wheel drive attain a $1,155 value improvement.

All A4 Special Edition models include a one-year subscription to SIRIUS Satellite Radio, complete with commercial-free music plus sports, news, talk, entertainment, traffic, weather and data. Similarly, customers can still choose the full S line and Titanium packages as optional sport upgrades, as well as a full range of individual options. Some of these sophistications include DVD-based Audi Navigation system, Bluetooth hands-free preparation, iPod adaptor, and wood beltline trim.

The A4 is also one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its luxury segment. The cutting-edge 2.0 TFSI direct injection engine made the prestigious Ward’s 10 Best Engines list for the third consecutive year in 2008, which recognized Audi’s expertise with efficient performance and advanced technology.

Safety has also been a top priority for the current model, and the A4 was the first passenger vehicle in its luxury segment to offer brake disc wiping as standard equipment in early 2005. This feature, combined with one of the most advanced and proactive stability control systems ESP 8.0., reduces the chances of inhibited braking performance during wet or inclement weather.

The A4 was one of three Audi models to receive the “Top Safety Pick” designation for 2008 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), for which it also won in 2007. Audi has the highest number of IIHS “Top Safety Pick” designations within its entire model line in comparison to luxury competitors BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus. This category recognizes excellence in top frontal, side, and rear crash performance and the availability of ESP (Electronic Stability Program).

“The Audi A4 has been a star performer for many years as an exciting sport luxury product offering in addition to its outstanding residual value,” said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President, Audi of America. “Much attention has been paid to constant enhancements to proactively meet and exceed the most particular customer wishes and tastes.”

The A4 Special Edition is expected to be available at authorized U.S. Audi dealer partners by mid March 2008 in both sedan and Avant body styles. For more information about previewing the A4 special edition at the Chicago Auto Show, please visit chicagoautoshow.com.

Mitsubishi gives up details on Prototype-S concept

Copy from : http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/28/mitsubishi-gives-up-details-on-prototype-s-concept/
More information plz visit Autoblog
mitsubishlancer_3_opt.jpg
Mitsubishi has given up the goods on what last week we referred to as the Lancer Sportback, but will go by the name of Prototype-S when it debuts this March at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The car itself is basically a production version of the Concept-Sportback that debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, and Mitsubishi hints in its press release that the 5-door hatchback Lancer is destined for the European market.

Some details revealed that we didn’t know last week include that the Prototype-S is powered by the same 2.0L turbo four-cylinder MIVEC engine that debuted earlier this month in the Lancer Ralliart. It produces 235 horsepower and 253 ft-lbs. of torque, which is routed through Mitsubishi’s Twin Clutch SST transmission and sent to all four wheels via a full-time 4WD system using the automaker’s Active Center Differential. The Prototype-S, therefore, is basically a hatchback body wrapped around the mechanicals of the Lancer Ralliart, a car with which we’re already smitten. Add the practically of a fifth door and more cargo capacity, and we’d be looking to tussle with a Mazdaspeed3 or Caliber SRT-4 on our way home from the grocery store. Sure, those higher horsepower cars might beat us in a straight line, but eventually the curves will come.

09 Subaru Forester shows its US face in Detroit

I just see this news, share with my friends. and today kamloops has a bad weather. this is not a worst thing. the worst thing is i miss bus. so i have to waiting for bus almost one hour. at that time i real thing about buy a car, whatevr it is.

09subaruforester-1_450.jpg

Today in Detroit we finally got to see the long-anticipated (by some of us at least) 2009 Subaru Forester that was revealed on Christmas Day. We’ve covered the JDM version and the US model pretty extensively, but now we have a few live shots of this fun and funky CUV for those who like that sort of thing. As we’ve already revealed, US customers will have their choice of naturally-aspirated and turbocharged versions of the same 2.5L boxer four-cylinder engine that has been offered in the past, although they’ve been reworked for more low-end torque.

The new, longer press release is after the jump, and if you peruse it you’ll learn that the engines put out 170 HP/170 ft-lbs and 224/226 for the NA and turbo versions, respectively. Pretty much what we assumed, seeing as how they are virtually identical to those used in the Impreza. Although not specifically outlined in the release, we’ll probably be getting the same trim levels as in the past: base 2.5X, Sports 2.5X, 2.5X L.L. Bean Edition paired with the NA engine and the 2.5XT, Sports 2.5XT and 2.5XT Limited offered with the turbo. New features for the 2009 US-spec Forester include available satellite navigation, standard Vehicle Dynamics Control and traction control, and Incline Start Assist on models with the manual transmission. Check out the live shots of US-spec 2009 Forester that have been added to our gallery below and read Subaru’s press release after the jump.

Santa Brings details on 2009 Forester

2009 Subaru Forester
By Subiesport Magazine, http://www.subiesport.com

2007 has been a year of big announcements at Subaru. First there was the revision of the Tribeca, and while that wasn’t earth shattering, the world waited in rapt excitement for the next one. That would have been the new Impreza WRX. Here was the first step in the hot-saloon cum hot hatch revamp. Then, closely on the heals of this was the relaunch of the STI which made the world stand still. Not ready to throw in the towel, Subaru had just one more revamp up its sleeve. And here it is: the long awaited for… 2009 Subaru Forester.

Not exactly the biggest release from Subaru in the last 5 five years, but still, another all-new model for Subaru fans to either rejoice or lament over. Given Subaru’s track-record over the last year, the faithful are sure to have their beefs with this new car as well.
Gone is the shoe-box styling that made the Forester such a hit. Again, Subaru seems to be taking styling cues from the likes of Toyota as the new Forester looks to be much more Rav 4 and not so much box-back Impreza.

The Forester still shares its platform with the hot saloon Impreza and therefore also shares the all-new, more sophisticated double-wishbone rear-suspension which Subaru claims improves crash protection as well as handling feel. Whereas the senior Forester was much more car-like in stance and ride-height, this generation is taller for a more SUV feel, with up to 8.9-inches of ground clearance. Subaru claims that this Forester also has more cargo room, which comes virtue of better suspension packaging and a longer wheel base, 3.6-inches more than that of the previous car.

The drivetrain is the same as that of the Impreza, with both 2.5-liter N/A and 2.5-liter turbo models available. Both manual and automatic transmission choices are available with VDC traction and stability control being standard along with all-wheel-drive, ABS and 4-wheel disc brakes. Manual transmissions will get Incline Start Assist to prevent roll-back when starting out on a hill.

The new Forester will now offer the same gee-whiz interior goodies of the Impreza with optional navigation, satellite radio and portable media player connectivity. Subaru claims that “…new interior materials, including double-stitched fabrics and high-grade plastics, impart a feeling of higher quality.” The Forester again is offered in several different trim levels with the stripper being the 2.5 X, “offering one of the best values in the crossover SUV segment and the range-topping Forester L.L.Bean Edition, offering more luxury without compromising the vehicle’s sporty nature;” or so says Subaru.

While we take solace in the fact that Subaru has retained the hot XT version, it appears that Subaru has slipped yet another one of its quirky, marque-defining models into the mainstream with the Forester’s new pseudo off-road body-cladding. This may be an attempt to carve the Forester out of the GLBT niche that Subaru so happily made for the car, and try to make it more competitive against the likes of the Rav 4 and CRV, which it closely resembles now.

If this new car is anything like it’s predecessor, it should offer more power, performance and handling than that of either the Honda or the Toyota.

Where this new car will fit in given the history and pedigree of the Forester, what with both the Japanese STI version and previous Sports editions as the benchmark, will be interesting to see. However, given the fact that this car also shares the underpinnings of the Impreza which is no slouch in the handling and power department, we will have to see just how much padding there is between the two cars.

Hopefully, as in past generations, your own home-brewed pseudo-STI version is only a set of springs and a reflash away.
